On September 16th we were delighted to welcome the internationally known organist, Kevin Bowyer, to give a recital on the recently restored Williams organ. Kevin is now the resident organist at Glasgow University, but used to live in Oxfordshire and practised on the organ at Great Tew. Kevin was very happy with the Goetze and Gwynn restoration work and his recital made full use of the new stops and unique character of this historic organ. Among the many pieces one or two stood out, including “Blues Prelude” by Mons Leidvin Takle and “Farewell to Stromness” by Peter Maxwell Davies. Refreshments were served after the concert and a retiring collection raised funds for the development project.
