Arranging a funeral or memorial service can be a difficult and painful experience and we are here to help you think through and plan the service. Funerals are held for those who have a connection with the parish.

Often we will be contacted by the Funeral Director you are working with to help arrange the funeral service, or you can talk to the wardens directly.

While a funeral service focuses on and honours the deceased person’s life and death, a memorial service focuses more on a celebration of the person’s life.

Funeral services can take place either in one of the churches or at the crematorium. Burials in the churchyard usually take place as part of the funeral service but can also take place at a later date. The burial of ashes usually takes place a few weeks after the cremation.

A Memorial Service usually follows some weeks after the funeral.

Please contact us to discuss arrangements and please do not fix a date for the funeral before you have spoken to the benefice administrator to make sure the church is free for the service. Costs for a funeral are usually included in the Funeral Director’s fees. Costs for a Memorial Service are agreed with the Church.
